The students at Bon Lin Elementary school are getting fit with the use of the wii sport video game. The students mimic the moves of the game, which is projected on a wall in the gym. They run in place, twirl imaginary Hula Hoops, balance and stretch with yoga and do step aerobics. Read this article on how this school is incorporating technology into their gym classes. The election of Barack Obama has sparked so much attention and excitement for the entire world. This is a very important time in our country and on January 20, 2009, Barack Obama will take the helm of the presidency. This is indeed is a teachable moment for educators and their are many lessons to be learned.

As I travel to Washington D.C. for the Inaugration of our 44th President I am fired up about the possibility of change coming to America. Their is an excitement among the students about President elect Obama becoming our 44th President, teachers should capitalize on that excitement and make every class a teachable moment. Inaugration Day is arguably one of the greastest moments in our history and this one will be historic as well as a time of hope and new beginnings.

With money being scarce in our district for Social Studies books and supplies, teachers are having to look for other tools to enhance their Social Studies lessons. An excellent tool to use is Google earth. It is free and readily available for teachers to use with their social studies lessons. While surfing the net I found an excellent site for Google earth lesson plans, this is the killer app for Social Studies teachers. It has lesson plans for all subject matter, here you will find real-world lessons that will help teachers find innovative ways for students to learn.

Those of you using video for your exhibitons , should consider using zamzar.com it is a video conversion website that lets you convert without the need to download software. Simply upload the file , choose the file format (perferably wmv or mp4) those are the best formats to use. After you have converted your file it is ready then to be uploaded to the MCS server. Good luck with your exhibitions.

Edutopia is a great place to find information about Project Based Learning. Why teach with project Based Learning? Project Learning helps students apply what they learn to real-life experiences and provides an all around enriching education. This is a great site for students looking for current events it is called Newseum’s Today’s Front Pages feature makes the front pages of almost 600 newspapers from around the U.S. and around the world available daily. The pages are also available in readable PDF form. In addition, there is an archive of front pages from dates of some significant world events, beginning with 9/11/2001. A brief analysis of selected news stories is also available each day. This site makes it easy to compare what different areas of the country or the world see as important on any given day and it’s all located on Nettrekker.
